Ashlee and Brenton’s June wedding was the epitome of understated elegance, with touches of whimsical and rustic added in for good measure. I love that they weaved their bird and nature theme throughout all of the many details (which were Ashley’s labor of love in the days leading up until the wedding). It really made the intimate affair one that was a true reflection of who they both are- classy but not stuffy, thoughtful but also fun-loving. Sarah of Sarah K. Chen Photography pulled through (as she always does!) with gorgeous images from the day.

We started out the day at Ashlee’s parents’ home where all the girls got ready. It was such a personal way to start the day- to me, nothing would be more meaningful than putting on your wedding gown in a home with so many memories and love within it. It also gave Sarah tons of unique places to shoot!

This ring shot is so totally appropriate; you’ll see exactly why below…

This is Tava- you may remember seeing her in Ashlee and Brenton’s engagement pictures. Tava was on-hand as the girls primped and served as our wedding day mascot of sorts. Here she is doing what she does best- which is looking sweet!

The bouquet! (And I do type the exclamation intentionally…). Kristin created this delicate and feminine yet whimsical and unexpected masterpiece. I love her for it.

Ashlee was the definition of stunning in all her bridal glory. The best part is, she is incredibly sweet as well- Brenton is definitely a lucky guy!

Before I digress- check out the lovely arch Kristin designed. Rustic tangled branches accented with cheerful bundles of flowers, with the cutest little mason jars filled with flowers hanging at varying heights. Sigh..
Ok- long, long story short; at our pre-wedding meeting I figured out that their Officiant, Pastor Darren, was my youth group pastor up in the Bay Area wayyyy back in the day. This was the first time I had seen him since I was 13- if this doesn’t prove the whole ‘small world’ saying, then I have no idea what will…

Love.

Even the little bunnies came out to play for the occasion!

Sarah set up a photo booth area during the dinner portion of the evening. Of course we had to test it out- only to make sure everything was set up perfect, of course;)
