Jaclyn + James’ Wedding, St. Malo Beach, Oceanside

I have the coolest clients, hands down. Not only are Jaclyn and James the epitome of effortless elegance, with ridiculous style and charming personalities; but they put together a wedding that was such a breath of fresh air. First off- the location. James’ family owns a vacation home (and have for all of James’ life) in the gated beachside community of St. Malo. I had no idea St. Malo even existed- but was delighted to learn the ins and outs of this amazingly tight knit community. Walking around the streets you feel like you have been transported into a beautiful European village- time seems to stand still. When it came time to plan their wedding, the decision was easy to have it in the place that has held such a special place in James, his family, and now Jaclyn’s heart. So they started planning, and they put together an affair that surely etched itself deep in the mind of all the guests lucky to attended. From the barefoot on the sand ceremony, to the dancing that took place under the stars late into the night- every part of the day held meaning. And the exquisite food, awesome music, and fabulous people made for an absolutely perfect combination. Daisy Varley (of Daisy Varley Photography) was so fun to have around, and took beautiful pictures on top of that! Check out some of my favorites:

The ladies all got ready in a lovely cottage with a courtyard that perfectly suited the getting ready festivities.

Jaclyn chose a light-as-air Amy Michelson gown- perfect for the casual beach ceremony, and still so incredibly elegant.

Exquisite.

Seeing her dad for the first time as a bride. I couldn’t tell who was beaming more- I love beautiful moments like this.

Jaclyn didn’t have any bridesmaids, so her ‘ladies in waiting’ gathered to see her all done up- so fun! Lots of ooohs and aaahs, and maybe even a few squeals.

Untitled-6-3

It goes without saying that James is handsome- I loved that he wore a classic bow tie. Gave him a debonaire feel that day- very James Bond (the original!).

Meanwhile guests were enjoying cocktails on the sand.

And some guests enjoyed the swings. Seeing them giddy and swinging made my heart warm- proof that life only gets better as it goes on.

The decor embraced the beach vibe, but on an elegant level with cool aqua and warm taupe hues, tropical flowers, and hints of coastal elements. Soooo right on so many levels.

October 22, 2010 - 7:51 pm Monique - i have been planning my wedding since i was about 7 years old. In my senior year of high school i went to France for spring break and visited Saint Malo..i fell in love with the city, and decided i would one day get married there. Seeing these pictures of their wedding brought back memories of how beautiful that place really is. The wedding was stunning!! Whoever the photographer is did an amazing job of catching the essence of the wedding and expressing the beauty and simplicity of it all. i am extremely impressed. i cannot wait to have my wedding there. I hope my wedding turns out half as gorgeous as theirs did.
