Tamara + Zev’s Wedding, The Hilton La Jolla, Torrey Pines

Tamara and Zev are very near and dear to my heart. I still remember the day I first met with them- they had come out to California from their home base of New York to get planning started, and it was an instant connection. We share so many common interests and similar taste so planning with them was a breeze. And as we planned they definitely sealed the deal on occupying a big place in my heart. Their love is so genuine and unfiltered- I adore the way they both light up when together. You hear a lot about soul mates but they are living proof; two people absolutely meant to be together and for that I know they will have the happiest of marriages. I also had the pleasure of getting to know a few key members of Tamara’s family well during planning- one I am particularly blessed to have worked with is Tamara’s wonderful, kind, loving grandfather Eugene. Made me miss my own grandfather incredibly; he has quite a few grandchildren but it was apparent that his love for Tamara is different from all the rest and that he couldn’t be prouder of the beautiful woman she has become. One more reason I love this wedding? Crissy (of Christine Farah Photography) was there to photograph it- so we have her to thank for all the beauty to follow. Enjoy!

Although I have had Jewish wedding ceremonies under the chuppah in the past, this was the first wedding where the bride and groom opted to incorporate a tish and bedeken into the day. I learned so much about the traditions, and loved how they really made the day that more special. The men all started up in a room with Zev for the tish (read more about it HERE)…

…meanwhile, the women all gathered with Tamara; soon enough all the men came singing down the stairs to meet the women- full of energy and having a rowdy (fun) time. Traditionally for the bedeken the groom covers the bride’s face with her veil after making sure she is the right bride- read more about it HERE

…then Tamara and Zev headed back upstairs with their close family and friends for the signing of the ketubah (read about that HERE). Their Rabbi did an incredible job of really making the signing ceremony personal and meaningful- I don’t think there was a single dry eye in the room.

Finally, they met under the chuppah to exchange vows.

Working with Tamara, Zev, and LaVonne on the wedding design was a dream- I totally ‘got’ their elegant and sophisticated taste and was eager to see it all come together. LaVonne designed three different centerpiece looks, all incorporating a gentle and somewhat organic feel without being too casual. Light blues, rich plums, and shades of ivory were all incorporated- with touches here and there to make each design unique.

November 3, 2010 - 1:53 pm Craig - I really enjoyed these pictures. It looks like a lot of fun was had, and I can feel what you were talking about with Tamara & Zev being "soulmates." The pictures captured that beautifully. (I especially enjoyed the b&w photos.) Thanks for sharing this. A beautiful ceremony & reception, and the love was "caught in the frame" fantastically.

November 3, 2010 - 12:42 pm Tamara - Thank you so much for posting this amazing representation of our day! We can't get enough of the photos. Such wonderful memories!!
